What is a T&M ticket in construction?
Also called time and materials ticket, T and M ticket, field T&M slip.
A T&M ticket is the on-site record of time-and-materials work. It lists labor, equipment, and materials (often as a LEM), the rates that apply, and typically a client signature. It is the document. Time and materials is the billing method.
Ticket versus contract type
Time and materials is how the extra is priced: actual hours and materials at agreed rates. The T&M ticket is the field evidence of what happened. You can have a T&M contract without clean tickets, and you will fight every invoice. You can also write T&M tickets as backup for work that later rolls into a lump-sum change order.
What should be on the ticket
Project, date, scope or extra description, labor by class and hours, equipment by class and hours, materials with quantities, rate references, and a signature block. Photos help. T&M ticket versus LEM
